BIO

Nakia Ford is an editor, writer, and filmmaker from Indianapolis, IN. She has earned a BA in Digital Film and Video Production for the Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumberg, and recently earned a MFA in Film Production from Full Sail University where she was awarded the Course Director’s Award for her achievements in Experimental Film. 

 

Nakia’s film experience includes being the producer for the Full Sail University thesis film “Unusual Places”, and directing and writing over 10 short student films. She also had the opportunity to write, direct, and edit  two short documentaries “African America’s in Medicine: The Civil War” and "Fiber Art". 

 

Nakia also has broadcasting experience, directing and producing for “Public Affairs” a political talk show on Comcast Public Access Television in Skokie, IL, as well as directing, writing, and editing commercials for the Armed Forces Network in Kaiserslautern, GE, her work was seen on three continents.

 

Nakia was commissioned as an officer, by the United States Army only months before September 11, 2001. For six years she served her country developing the management, decision making, leadership, and interpersonal skills necessary to participate or lead a successful production team.

 

Nakia has been a storyteller in some fashion or another for most of her life, from creating adventures through her imagination or living them in countries across the globe. Her journey in filmmaking has proven to be her most exciting and adventurous story to date; unscripted and still in production.
